Excellent power supply design and procurement guidance. A few caveats:
-suggestion to use MIL-HDBK-217 for tradeoff studies is not recommended. Others have shown there is no correlation between predictions and actual use experience.
-recommended 110C max junction temperature may result in costly overdesign. Junction temp should be examined on a case-by-case basis.
-derating guidelines in Appendix E may result in costly overdesign. When proper WCA is employed, the need for derating is reduced or eliminated.
-recommended 100% ESS may not be appropriate for many cases. ESS sampling may be better to avoid inadvertent aging of equipment.
